ALCOHOL INK& REVERSE ACRYLIC
The relationship between people and trees, as with trees and spirituality are interrelated. Trees are communal organisms, and have evolved to form cooperative relationships within their groves. The special relevance of trees in spirituality is marked throughout history with images, symbolism and text. When we begin looking at trees as he, she or they and recognize the interconnectedness between them and us, we take a beginning step towards healing our own nature.

ARTIST STATEMENT
Inspired by the relationship between visual and experiential, I use ink and paint to offer my perception of life's emotions and experiences as they shape us, change us, and add to our life essence. All that becomes part of us shows through how we smile, expand and contrast and observe each other. Connecting with others by presenting an interpretation of the space we all share as humans pull me back into the studio day after day. Life happens in time, space, and emotion layers that overlap, separate, and define meaning. With every shade of pigment, the thickness of the medium, and the layering of shapes, I represent pieces as much with what is as what is not, respecting the power of negative space. I have always been intrigued by unpredictable mediums. Whether working with polaroid emulsion transfers, the oxidation-reduction of natural elements in clay, or how alcohol dances and plays with concentrated ink, I am an eternal student and novice. My husband has made it possible for me to reconnect and rekindle my relationship with color and texture in a way that I have not since graduating with a BA from Missouri Western University. Therefore, I create to show up in the world as a better person than yesterday so that I can again be in artistic resonance with the natural beauty of the world around me.
